An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established, privately owned main contractor at their office in Potters Bar. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will quickly become an integral part of my clients business and take responsibility for a large portfolio of work for multiple clients across the South East.
The business specialises in the delivery of fast-paced, low-value, high-volume works across the water, telecoms and civils sectors. This role will suit a commercially astute Quantity Surveyor who thrives in a dynamic environment, is highly organised, and can manage a large number of live jobs concurrently.
Working closely with the Commercial Manager, The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the commercial management of multiple utility workstreams, ensuring tight cost control, robust contract administration, and strong financial performance across the portfolio.
Key responsibilities include:
Full commercial management of a high-volume workload of utility projects
Cost forecasting, budgeting, and value reporting
Preparation and agreement of applications for payment and final accounts
Management of variations and compensation events
Administration of contracts under NEC forms (NEC3/NEC4)
Liaison with operational teams to ensure commercial best practice
Supporting junior commercial staff where required
About You
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within the utilities, civils, or infrastructure sectors
Comfortable working on fast paced, low value, high volume frameworks
Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (essential)
Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
Confident managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Commercially minded with a proactive, solutions-focused approach
