Quantity Surveyor – Highways Maintenance – Contract Role
You’ll be working for one of the Largest and most well-respected Build & Construction companies working in the UK right now – Our client is a multidisciplinary contractor that supplies construction solutions to several different subsectors.
They are hiring right now for their highways & surfacing team, looking after asphalting and tarmac surfacing, in house TM, utilities installation & treatment, etc. They have an established name within the industry and can provide you with experience and plenty of opportunities to propel your career forward.
Your new role
As Quantity Surveyor, you’ll be working within the commercial team on National Highways Maintenance and Response Contracts. You will assist in the commercial management of all the different elements of this contract, from emergency repairs, to incident response, routine maintenance & minor improvement schemes.

Your core tasks will include
- Provide commercial expertise to contracts, to include the production and submission of applications for payment, claims, budget monitoring
- Assess, review and mitigate commercial and contractual risks and implement Company Group’s policies for risk management
- Effectively manage the supply chain, raising orders, assessing applications and variations, and agreeing final accounts
- Maximise cash flow through robust cost control, and accurate valuation of work
- Have strong analytical skills and attention to detail to effectively manage high-volume, low-value works.
You’ll also need to have the following experience:
- Holds the relevant qualifications (Degree or HNC in Quantity Surveying desirable)
- Experience within a similar role in the Highways/Infrastructure Industry
- Confident in IT skills, proficient in the use of MS Office, in particular Excel
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbally
- Excellent organiser with proven time management skills and the ability to manage different tasks at once
