Quantity Surveyor – Full Time, Permanent

Due to continued demand, we are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join a friendly and established team based in Llantrisant, Cardiff. The organisation designs and specifies mechanical and electrical services across a wide range of projects within the commercial, industrial, government, and healthcare sectors, and has an excellent reputation for quality, reliability, and successful project delivery.

The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing all contractual and financial aspects of construction projects. The role focuses on minimising project costs, maximising value for money, and ensuring all work meets the required standards and quality.

Key Responsibilities

* Cost Management – Monitor project budgets to ensure expenditure remains within forecasts and implement cost-saving measures where possible.

* Contract Negotiation and Management – Negotiate contracts with suppliers, subcontractors, and stakeholders, ensuring favourable terms that align with project requirements. Manage contractual obligations throughout the project lifecycle.

* Risk Management – Identify financial risks, develop mitigation strategies, and minimise potential cost overruns. Regularly review progress and adjust plans accordingly.

* Reporting – Prepare detailed reports analysing costs and benefits of different options, recommending the best course of action.

* Procurement and Payments – Oversee procurement processes and maintain accurate financial records and transactions.

* Client Liaison and Dispute Resolution – Meet with clients to understand requirements, address concerns, and provide advice on contractual or legal matters. Facilitate clear communication between clients and project teams.

* Documentation – Prepare regular reports on project costs, progress, and financial status. Maintain accurate records of labour, materials, and other expenses.

Personal Qualities and Skills

* Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Management, or a related field

* Proven experience in a Quantity Surveyor or cost management role

* Strong analytical and numerical abilities

* Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills

* Ability to build strong professional networks

* Proficiency in relevant software such as cost estimation and project management tools

* Sound knowledge of construction contracts and industry regulations

* Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills

Experience Required

* Demonstrable track record as a Quantity Surveyor

* Experience in Construction or Building Services environments
