Estimator
We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join a well-established infrastructure contractor. The role focuses on estimating works delivered through long-term, regulated frameworks, primarily within the transport and public infrastructure sectors.
This is a traditional estimating role, producing accurate, competitive tenders for repeat and negotiated works, as well as competitively tendered projects, within a framework-led environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed and competitive cost estimates for civil engineering projects
Interpret drawings, specifications and scope documents to produce accurate take-offs
Develop pricing from first principles, supply chain quotations and historical cost data
Price works typically associated with infrastructure, maintenance and renewal programmes
Identify commercial and contractual risks and opportunities within tenders
Support tender strategy, bid submissions and internal reviews
Work closely with delivery, commercial and operational teams
Maintain and develop estimating databases, benchmarks and pricing models
Systems & Software
Experience using estimating software such as Candy, Conquest or similar would be considered an advantage. Any ability to contribute to improvements in estimating systems or share best practice within the team would be welcomed, but this is not the primary focus of the role.
About You
Proven experience working in a dedicated Estimator role within civil engineering
Background in infrastructure, transportation, highways, rail, structures or public-sector frameworks
Strong understanding of construction methods, costs and estimating processes
Detail-focused, analytical and commercially aware
Confident communicator with a collaborative working style
Able to manage multiple tenders and work to deadlines
