Your new role
We’re seeking a proactive and experienced Highways Structural Supervisor to oversee and ensure the quality and safety of structural maintenance and improvement projects on our road network across the capital. You’ll be responsible for supervising site visits, reporting defects, coordinating work, ensuring adherence to specifications and regulations, and maintaining accurate records.
Your expertise in highway structures, including bridges, retaining walls, and culverts, will be crucial in delivering high-quality and efficient project outcomes. You’ll also play a key role in promoting a safe working environment and fostering effective communication within the team and with stakeholders. Your day-to-day
- Inspect & Assess: Conduct surveys and daily inspections of structural projects on highways schemes, such as Bridges, Tunnels, Retaining Walls, Culverts, to ensure they meet safety and legislative standards.
- Solve Problems: Be proactive, and challenge others to push standards and use initiative to resolve structural issues on major highway structures.
- Enforce Standards: Work with local authorities, subcontractors, and legislation to maintain structural reliability and functional excellence.
- Drive Change: Review safety protocols and data collection systems to innovate maintenance practices and streamline operations.
- Collaborate: Build networks with stakeholders and engage with the public to deliver excellent customer service.
What you’ll need to succeed
Having a proactive mindset towards rectifying structural defects in projects across your patch. We are looking for someone who can not only recognise build defects and highlight them, but also show a drive to find the root cause and improve build standards across the company. While it is beneficial to have SSSTS/SMSTS card, it is not a necessity, and while we would prefer applicants to hold an undergraduate degree in civil engineering, it is not a necessity.
