Estimator – Scaffolding
Job Title: Estimator

Role Purpose
Prepare accurate and compliant quotations for scaffolding projects by analysing drawings, specifications, and site information. Work closely with clients, project teams, and senior management to deliver timely, commercially sound bids that support business growth and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Tendering & Quotation Preparation
Review client enquiries, tender documentation, and specifications to assess project requirements.
Carry out site visits where necessary to assess logistics, access, and site constraints.
Prepare detailed estimates and quotations for scaffolding works, including labour, materials, design, and hire durations.
Interpret drawings, scopes, and programmes to produce accurate take-offs and costings.
Ensure estimates reflect current market rates, internal cost structures, and agreed profit margins.
Submit bids and quotations within deadlines and follow up with clients as required.
Business Development & Client Engagement
Identify and generate new business opportunities by engaging with potential clients, contractors, developers, and key contacts.
Follow up on leads, referrals, and lapsed clients to re-establish relationships and secure future work.
Attend industry networking events and site meetings to raise profile and promote services.
Maintain and develop a network of industry contacts to identify upcoming tender opportunities.
Commercial & Technical Coordination
Liaise with clients, contractors, and suppliers to clarify requirements and obtain additional information.
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards (e.g., TG20:21), and client specifications.
Review and price variations to contracted works, ensuring prompt submission and client communication.
Negotiate packages and pricing adjustments where required, maintaining commercial viability.
Documentation & Systems
Maintain accurate records of tenders submitted, outcomes, and pricing histories using estimating systems/software.
Keep up to date with system updates and ensure effective use of available digital tools.
Client Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients.
Represent the business professionally during site visits, meetings, and negotiations.
Provide technical and commercial input during pre- and post-tender discussions.
Respond promptly and professionally to client queries, amendments, and re-costing requests.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Proven experience in scaffolding estimating or a similar commercial role.
Sound knowledge of scaffolding systems and access requirements.
Familiarity with scaffolding regulations and guidance (TG20:21, SG4, NASC).
Experience pricing and managing variations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Experience with estimating software or willingness to learn new systems.
Full UK driving licence.
