Estimator
Construction Estimator (Newry)
Your new company
Hays have been retained by a main contractor in their recruitment of an Estimator to join their Commercial Team. Established over 40 years ago, my client has undertaken, and successfully delivered, an impressive range of contracts across the UK and Ireland. Operating with a turnover of over £100m, the company maintains a strong presence in the construction industry in NI and even further afield.
With projects in the education, healthcare, commercial and residential sectors, they have been responsible for projects up to £50m in value. This contractor is experiencing significant growth and therefore is in search of an Estimator to join their team.
Your new role
Within your new role you will report directly to the Lead Estimator and work closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor. You will assist with analytical cost estimates and tenders, from receipt of enquiry to tender submission on a variety of large-scale build projects ranging up to £50m. You will be expected to manage projects efficiently and report price variations effectively. This is an office-based role so you will not be required to travel to the UK.
What you’ll need to succeed
You will be degree-educated in a construction-related discipline, and will have at least 5 years of previous experience in an estimating role. You will be keen to make a move to a contractor that will offer a long-term career view in the construction industry.
A high level of competence in all Microsoft Office packages will be a necessity for the role, as will the ability to work on your own initiative. Additionally, previous experience of estimating software will be required. A confident and outgoing personality will also be beneficial for dealing directly with clients and their design teams.
What you’ll get in return
This is a unique, new estimating position with a highly reputable, progressive and expanding main contractor within Northern Ireland. A competitive salary package will be available, which will be negotiable based on the successful individual and their experience as well as other company benefits such as a car allowance, a contributory pension scheme and 29 days annual leave.
