We are seeking an experienced and commercially focused General Manager to lead an established equipment hire business. This senior role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, driving performance, and ensuring high standards across service delivery, team management, and financial control. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the ongoing growth and efficiency of the business.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide overall leadership and strategic direction across the business

* Manage and support departmental managers and operational teams

* Oversee day-to-day operations including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation

* Ensure high levels of customer service and operational reliability

* Drive efficiency, continuous improvement, and business growth

* Manage budgets, financial performance, and cost control

* Ensure compliance with health and safety, company policies, and relevant regulations

* Act as senior point of contact for escalated operational or customer issues

* Monitor performance against targets and implement improvement plans where required

Skills and Experience Required

* Proven experience in a senior management or general management role

* Background in equipment hire, logistics, operations, or a similar operational environment

* Strong leadership and people management skills

* Commercially minded with experience managing budgets and profitability

* Excellent organisational, communication, and decision-making abilities

* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Desirable

* Experience managing operational teams and depot-based environments

* Understanding of compliance, health and safety, and asset management
