I am working with a leading contractor specialising in building, infrastructure and fit-out projects for a Design Coordinator to join the team on a permanent basis. The business delivers a wide range of building and infrastructure projects across sectors including health, education and secure environments, providing support from early project stages through to completion.

The purpose of the Design Coordinator to support the delivery of coordinated, compliant design on live construction projects. Working closely with the Design Manager, you’ll help manage the consultant and subcontractor design process from detailed design through procurement and construction, ensuring information is fully coordinated, compliant with regulations, and issued in line with agreed programmes to enable timely starts on site. This role suits someone with strong technical coordination experience who enjoys being at the centre of design, commercial and site teams. 

Key responsibilities:

Coordinating consultants, subcontractors and technical design information across design, procurement and construction
Supporting the Design Manager with reviews of consultant and subcontractor design outputs
Managing design programmes, approvals schedules and information flow to commercial, operations and client teams
Ensuring designs meet company standards, regulatory requirements and budget constraints
Issuing complete, coordinated design packages to construction and commercial teams
Managing change control, RFIs and design-related site queries through to close-out
Liaising with planning authorities, building control and third parties to secure approvals
Monitoring design compliance on site through meetings and site visits
Compiling handover documentation including H&S files and O&M manuals
About you:

Proven experience coordinating design on construction projects
Strong technical understanding with the ability to identify buildability and design risk
Organised, proactive and comfortable managing multiple workstreams
Solid knowledge of current construction legislation and design & build processes
Confident communicator able to work across consultants, subcontractors and site teams
Full UK driving licence
Desirable:

Experience with CAD/BIM environments
Professional body membership (CIOB, CIAT, RICS or similar)
Relevant Level 4 qualification or above (HNC/NVQ or similar)
Exposure to Building Safety Act works or retrofit projects
