The Opportunity

We are working with a leading M&E Contractor delivering technically complex projects across the Commercial, Data Centre and Financial Services sectors, with project values ranging from £5m–£30m. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are looking to appoint an experienced M&E Design Manager to join their team.

This is a key role within the business, bridging the gap between pre-construction and delivery, ensuring designs are coordinated, compliant and commercially viable from concept through to handover.

The Role

As M&E Design Manager, you will take ownership of the full design process across multiple projects, working closely with consultants, subcontractors and internal delivery teams.

Key responsibilities include:

Managing the M&E design process from tender through to construction stage

*

Coordinating consultants and specialist subcontractor design packages

*

Reviewing and challenging technical submissions to ensure buildability and compliance

*

Driving design programmes to meet project milestones

*

Ensuring compliance with client specifications, British Standards and HTM requirements (where applicable)

*

Supporting commercial teams with value engineering and cost-effective solutions

*

Attending client and consultant meetings as the technical lead

*

Overseeing RFI processes, technical queries and design change management

About You:

*

Proven experience as an M&E Design Manager within an M&E Contractor or Main Contractor environment

*

Strong background delivering Commercial, Data Centre or technically challenging projects

*

Excellent understanding of both Mechanical & Electrical systems

*

Confident managing consultants and subcontractor design teams

*

Commercial awareness with the ability to balance design quality and cost

*

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
