Role Overview
The Quantity Surveyor will act as the commercial lead on allocated projects, ensuring contract compliance, cost control, and effective management of the subcontractor/supply chain. The role offers long-term career growth within a main contracting environment and exposure to complex utility infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities

Negotiate and agree subcontract terms and conditions
*
Manage and process payments for subcontractors and key suppliers
*
Ensure compliance with contract obligations and rights
*
Monitor project progress through site visits and reporting
*
Manage contract variations, amendments, and compensation events
*
Assess commercial impact of changes and potential liabilities
*
Produce monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVR) and valuations
*
Generate Earned Value Analysis and financial reports
*
Review weekly cost monitors against forecasts
*
Capture, analyse, and report cost variances
*
Collate Defined Cost Records for client audit
*
Monitor and report on programme and cost performance
*
Support project close-out and final payment processes
*
Maintain change registers and commercial records
*
Collaborate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams
Candidate Profile
*
Experience in civil engineering or utilities infrastructure
*
BSc in Quantity Surveying or related commercial discipline
*
MRICS or MCIOB desirable
*
Strong data interrogation, financial reporting, and analytical skills
*
Line management experience
*
Commercially aware with legal/contractual knowledge
*
Experience preparing management accounts
*
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel essential, Access beneficial)
*
Previous experience within construction or similar sector
*
Full UK driving licence and CSCS card at appropriate level
