A client within the Public Sector based in Gloucestershire is currently recruiting for an Assistant Project Manager (Highways) to join their Traffic Engineering team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, initially for 6 months (with the potential to be extended or made permanent), with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority highways or engineering environment.

The Role
Key purpose of the role:
To support the delivery of traffic engineering and local highway improvement schemes that improve road safety, promote sustainable travel, and enhance the quality of life for communities across Gloucestershire.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Supporting the planning, coordination, and delivery of highway and traffic engineering projects.
• Assisting with project documentation, programme monitoring, cost tracking, and reporting.
• Liaising with designers, contractors, senior project managers, and internal/external stakeholders.
• Supporting stakeholder engagement activities and responding to enquiries.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant policies, design standards, and health & safety legislation including CDM Regulations 2015.

The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• A relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent experience).
• A full UK driving licence.
• Basic knowledge and understanding of project management principles.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Experience supporting projects within highways, traffic engineering, construction, or a local authority environment.
• Strong IT skills including Microsoft 365, Excel, and project management software.
• A methodical approach to work with strong attention to detail.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £27 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £21 per hour PAYE).
