Matchtech are seeking a Contracts Manager for a well‑established, independently owned civil engineering contractor recognised for its strong regional presence, collaborative culture, and commitment to employee development. Known for delivering highways, marine, infrastructure and public‑realm projects, the business blends ambitious growth with a supportive, people‑focused environment.
This role is based in the Southern region (within approx. 1.5 hours of Ringwood).
The Role
The Contracts Manager will lead multiple project teams to ensure successful delivery, strong client relationships, and alignment with business objectives. This position is ideal for someone looking to join a dynamic contractor with clear progression pathways and a focus on quality, safety, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support project teams to deliver schemes safely, on time and within budget.
Work with pre‑construction and bid teams on tenders, submissions and contract handovers.
Build and maintain strong customer relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
Oversee contract performance, forecasting, risk management and commercial reporting.
Ensure quality, safety and environmental standards are consistently met.
Drive productivity, resource planning and programme coordination with site teams.
Support, coach and develop site managers and project managers.
Conduct site audits, contract reviews and post‑completion evaluations.
Champion continuous improvement, innovation and best practice across the business.
Act as a key representative for the company when liaising with clients, stakeholders and internal leadership.
Key Requirements
Essential
Proven track record leading civil engineering project teams.
Strong understanding of health & safety management.
CSCS (appropriate level).
SMSTS qualification.
Desirable
Marine or coastal project experience.
Experience working with a directly employed workforce.
Planning and programming knowledge.
First Aid certification
