GVR Solutions are working with a well-established, London-based specialist joinery and interior fit-out contractor who deliver bespoke packages across commercial, hospitality and high-end residential sectors. With a reputation for precision craftsmanship, technical excellence, and strong client relationships, they are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their commercial team.

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take full commercial responsibility for joinery and fit-out packages from pre-construction through to final account. Working closely with the Commercial Director and project teams, you will play a key role in safeguarding profitability, managing risk and driving commercial performance across multiple projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute professional with specialist joinery or high-end fit-out experience who thrives in a fast-paced London market.

Responsibilities of the Senior Quantity Surveyor:

* Understand, promote and work within the company values and comply with all the procedures

* Overall financial responsibility for the project, ensuring the project team achieve or exceed their set budgeted targets

* Build relationships within the business, suppliers, sub-contracts, clients, consultants and all other stakeholders involved in the project

* Deliver their work to the highest of standards of a QS working for an industry leading joinery and fit out contractor

* Identify potential disputes and commercial issues in a timely manner

* Ensure external valuations are submitted in accordance with conditions of the main contract and that payment notices are received and cash received within contract timescales

* Price and effectively agree project variations as the project proceeds

* Drive to achieve timely and equitable resolution of client and subcontract final accounts

* Maximise the company cash position within the confines of external and internal contract conditions

* Correctly identify and prepare any contractual notices for all events and administering the contract and any sub-contract conditions accordingly

* Complete CVR reports, ensuring they accurately reflect the current position on site and the final profit projection. Consistency on CVR reporting

* Place Purchase Orders & Sub-Contracts in line with the Procurement Schedule

* Ensure all Purchase Orders & Sub-Contracts issued externally accurately reflect the contract requirements and scope of works

* Tackle difficult issues as soon as they arise. Provide early warning of any future major financial issues and/or disputes in a timely manner to the Senior Management Team and assist in the resolution

* Manage, train and develop the junior members of the team .

* Work as part of the site and commercial team to strive to achieve or exceed targets

The Senior Quantity Surveyor must have/be:

* Good knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office

* Good knowledge and ability to read and interpret drawings with the ability to accurately measure (Bluebeam, Procore, other software or traditionally)

* Good working knowledge and experience of cost reporting, PO and subcontract software and/or portals

* Commercially aware and driven to achieve results

* Consistently work to the good standard and to the best of their ability

* Good communication and interpersonal skills – both written and verbal

* Model behaviour that shows respect, helpfulness and co-operation

* Open & honesty to tackle difficult situations early

* Practical and logical with a methodical way of thinking

* Creative and innovate approach to solving problems
