Location: Oxfordshire / North Oxford Area (Site-Based) Office Day: One day per week in Abingdon (typically Wednesdays) Reporting to: Commercial Manager (Western Division) Salary: £65,000 – £70,000 + £6,900 Car Allowance
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our Western Division commercial team. This role is based across a cluster of local developments, primarily focused on a 24-unit site while providing commercial support to a larger Canalside development and a nearby 90-unit project.
You will work as part of a collaborative commercial team, alongside existing QSs on the larger schemes. This is not a "package-only" role; you will be expected to run the job from a prelims perspective, working closely with the site production team to ensure commercial success.
Key Responsibilities
Site-Led Commercials: Manage valuations, variations, and cost reporting across the local project cluster.
Client Engagement: Lead client meetings and manage external relationships with a focus on optimizing project value.
Operational Integration: Run the 24-unit site from a commercial standpoint, integrating deeply with the onsite team.
Value Optimization: Proactively manage variations and prelims to protect and enhance project margins.
Candidate Profile
We are specifically looking for a "career" surveyor who values longevity and has a deep understanding of the residential sector.
Residential Expertise: A strong background in New Build Residential is essential.
Proven Stability: You must demonstrate long stints with previous employers. We are looking for a track record of loyalty and project completion.
Technical Knowledge: Extensive experience with Traditional Build and RC Frame construction. (Please note: we do not use timber frame).
Commercial Mindset: High proficiency in managing valuations and variations while maintaining strong client relations.
The Package & Process
Salary: £65,000 – £70,000 (Dependent on experience)
Car Allowance: £6,900 per annum
Start Date: ASAP
Interview: First-stage interviews will be held in person at our Abingdon office with the Commercial Manager.
