Highways Asset Engineer
A client within the Public Sector based in South Yorkshire is currently recruiting for an Highways Asset Engineer to join their Highway Asset Maintenance Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, permenant position with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a highways maintenance environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role:
To support the delivery of the council’s capital highway maintenance programmes by applying robust highway asset management principles to plan, develop and deliver effective maintenance schemes. The role involves supporting the Senior Engineer in commissioning and managing preventative surface treatments and structural resurfacing works to ensure long-term network performance and value.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Supporting the management, administration and implementation of highway maintenance projects and operational activities.
• Undertaking feasibility studies and option appraisals, providing clear technical recommendations.
• Managing specialist highway surface treatment contracts, including programming, preparation and quality monitoring.
• Applying highway asset management principles, analysing condition data and producing prioritised work programmes and lifecycle plans.
• Supporting winter service delivery including weather monitoring, treatment decisions, route planning and salt stock management.
• Assisting in the defence of third-party insurance claims through preparation of technical reports and evidence.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• Qualification to Level 5 (HND) in Civil Engineering or significant and relevant Highways Maintenance experience.
• Demonstrable experience in highway maintenance practices, design principles and construction techniques.
• A valid UK driving licence.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Experience using AutoCAD and GIS mapping systems.
• Knowledge of Highway Asset Management systems, lifecycle planning and prioritisation methodologies.
• Understanding of highways legislation, Codes of Practice and health & safety requirements within a highways environment.
• Membership of a relevant professional body.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £39,890 per annum.
