A well‑established regional Main Contractor based near Hitchin is looking to appoint a Design Coordinator to support their growing pre‑construction and delivery teams. This contractor delivers a diverse mix of Design & Build, refurbishment and new‑build schemes across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and neighbouring counties. They are known for their technical capability, collaborative culture and strong repeat‑client base.

Role Overview: Design Coordinator
This is an ideal opportunity for someone with architectural, engineering or contractor‑side experience who wants to develop their career within a Main Contractor environment. You’ll work closely with the Design Manager, pre‑construction team and site teams to help coordinate design information from tender stage through to delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in managing the design process on Design & Build projects
* Coordinate drawings and information between architects, engineers and specialist subcontractors
* Support design reviews, technical checks and buildability assessments
* Track design information against programme requirements
* Help resolve design queries and ensure timely approvals
* Work flexibly between office, home and site
Working Pattern
* Hybrid working (office / home / site)
* Hours: 8.30am – 5.00pm (1‑hour lunch)
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience as a Design Coordinator, Assistant Design Manager, Architectural Technologist or similar
OR a background in architecture/engineering looking to move into contractor‑side coordination
Good understanding of construction drawings, technical detailing and design processes
Strong communication and organisational skills
Confident working with multiple stakeholders and managing deadlines
Suitable backgrounds include: Architecture, Structural Engineering, Consultancy, Main Contractor, D&B
