Company Overview
A market leading construction business seeks an Assistant Site Manager for a long-term placement in Nottingham. The project involves a partial new build and refurbishment of student accommodation in Nottingham City Centre. This role is pivotal in overseeing the internal stages of the project, working closely under the guidance of the Senior Site Manager.
Job Duties
Support the Senior Site Manager in the daily management of site activities, ensuring operations run smoothly and efficiently.
Supervise internal construction works, including coordination of trades and monitoring progress against programme milestones.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations on site, promoting a safe working environment at all times.
Maintain accurate records of site activities, including daily reports, labour and materials tracking.
Assist in managing subcontractors and liaise with suppliers to secure timely delivery of materials.
Contribute to quality control procedures, ensuring work meets project specifications and standards.
Identify and resolve site issues promptly, escalating concerns where necessary to maintain project timelines.
Participate in site meetings and communicate effectively with project stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
Site Supervisors’ Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) certificate
Valid Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card
First Aid certification
Full, valid driving licence
Experience
Proven experience in construction site supervision, preferably within residential or student accommodation projects.
Familiarity with internal fit-out works and refurbishment processes.
Experience in managing subcontractors and coordinating on-site activities.
Knowledge and Skills
Strong understanding of construction methods, particularly related to internal works and residential developments.
Good organisational and time management skills.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with various project teams.
Competent in site administration and record keeping.
Proactive approach to problem solving and decision making on site.
Working Conditions
The role is site-based, requiring work in varying weather conditions and adherence to site safety protocols.
Full-time hours with optional weekend work.
Use of personal protective equipment is mandatory.
Travel to and from the site location in Nottingham City Centre is required.
