Quantity Surveyor – Tier 1 Main Contractor – £70k / £80k

About the Opportunity

A leading Tier 1 main contractor is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to take on a commercial role within their London team. This position offers the chance to work on high‑profile fit‑out and refurbishment projects while enjoying the flexibility of a hybrid working arrangement.

The ideal candidate will bring strong commercial acumen, proven experience managing their own packages, and a solid understanding of the fit‑out sector. You’ll be joining a well‑established contractor with a strong pipeline of work and a reputation for delivering complex, high‑quality schemes.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage all commercial aspects of assigned projects from procurement through to final account

* Prepare and review cost plans, valuations, variations, and financial reports

* Lead subcontract procurement, negotiation, and management

* Ensure accurate forecasting, cost control, and budget management

* Work closely with project teams to ensure commercial and contractual compliance

* Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners

* Provide clear commercial guidance to project teams and senior management

About You

* Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor

* Strong background in fit‑out / Refurb

* Confident operating in a standalone QS role

* Experience working for a main contractor (Tier 1 or Tier 2 preferred)

* Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills

* Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities

* Comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider project team
