Project Engineer – Building & Civils
A Tier One Project Management and Engineering Consultancy requires a Project Engineer (Building & Civils) to support ongoing Network Rail projects across the Eastern region.
This is an inside IR35 position and offers a day rate of £375.
This is a hybrid position, with an anticipated split of 2 days per week working from home and 3 days per week in the office in central York.
The initial contract duration will be 6 months, although it is highly likely to be extended. This represents a great opportunity to secure a long-term, stable contract position.
You’ll be right for the position if you:
Hold a degree in Civil Engineering (BEng or BSc)
Have around five years of engineering experience gained working on Network Rail civil and building projects
Hold valid PTS and track safety competence
This is a client-side position, and your main responsibilities will lie in the review and assurance of design and construction engineering activities, typically within asset protection.
Other areas of responsibility:
Carry out robust engineering verifications to ensure compliance and technical integrity
Lead discipline-level technical consultation between the project team, client, designers, contractors, and Route Engineers
Manage the Network Rail DRN process end-to-end, issuing clear acceptances or rejections within 20 working days and driving timely resolution of any resubmissions
Represent the discipline at key project meetings, including progress reviews, CRE meetings, and IDC/IDRs
Provide clear, authoritative technical input at enquiry and early-stage meetings where specialist expertise is required
Critically review initial design proposals, providing concise, value-adding feedback to de-risk delivery
