A leading commercial and industrial contractor is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their Portsmouth office. This is a permanent role offering the chance to work on a mix of commercial, industrial, and refurbishment projects across the South East.

Role Overview

You will be responsible for the commercial management of projects from pre-contract to final account, ensuring cost control, timely valuations, and robust contract administration. Working closely with project teams, you’ll play a key role in delivering profitable and high-quality projects while supporting the growth of the Portsmouth office.

Key Responsibilities

Manage project budgets, valuations, and cashflow

*

Prepare and issue subcontractor enquiries and tender documentation

*

Monitor work-in-progress, interim applications, and final accounts

*

Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities

*

Support procurement and negotiation with subcontractors

*

Maintain accurate cost reports and commercial records

*

Assist in contract interpretation, claims, and variations

Skills & Experience

*

Experience as a Quantity Surveyor on construction, fit-out, refurbishment, or industrial projects

*

Knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 and/or JCT contracts

*

Strong commercial awareness and numeracy

*

Excellent negotiation, communication, and organisational skills

*

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

*

Relevant qualification (RICS/AssocRICS, HNC/HND in QS, or built environment degree)

*

Full UK driving licence
